Enjoy Rome tours

To Truly taste the flavour of the city  requires living like the Roman - a big ''Yes'' to culture art and entertainment, but also to relaxing in the sun and enjoying fine food. Every Roman's day begins with the coffee ritual, which is always espresso coffee - or cappuccino - that is drunk while standing at the bar and eating a cornetto (croissant). This traditional breakfast sweet can be filled with cream or jam. Lunch generally includes a light pizza snack, a salad or sandwich (tramezzini triangle-shaped sandwiches can be found in most bars), but there are also Roman who prefer to sit down at a full service restaurant to enjoy a tasty disch of pasta. To placate unexpected munchies during the day, we suggest a short break and pizza sold by the slice (pizza a taglio) or ice cream (gelato) during the summers.

The Villa Adriana (at Tivoli, near Rome) is an exceptional complex of classical buildings created in the 2nd century A.D. by the Roman emperor Hadrian. It combines the best elements of the architectural heritage of Egypt, Greece and Rome in the form of an ideal city. Villa Adriana is a masterpiece that uniquely brings together the highest expressions of the material cultures of the ancient Mediterranean world. Study its monuments played a crucial role in the rediscovery of the elements of classical architecture by the architects of the Renaissance and the Baroque period. It also profoundly influenced many 19th- and  20th-century architects and designers.

The Villa d'Este in Tivoli, with its palace and garden, is one of the most remarkable and comprehensive illustrations of Renaissance culture at its most refined. It's innovative design along with the architectural components in the garden (fountains, ornamental basins, etc.) make this a unique example of an Italian 16th-century garden.

From Naples port tour to Pompeii excavations & Vesuvius
Meeting point and pick-up at the cruise ship terminal, leaving the port, you will drive south via the motorway towards the archeological site of Pompei first, possibly the most famous excavation in the world.
Entering Pompeii by one of its eight different  gates you will be guided in the Forum, Pompei's main square, the Basilica, The Large Theater, the Roman Baths, its temples and porticoes. 20,000 people lived in this provincial town, of which 2,000 perished in the horrifying eruption of Vesuvius in AD 79. Twenty feet of volcanic ash and pumice stone covered Pompeii. Much of this has been removed over the last 200 years to reveal the details of everyday life in Pompeii.
There a flourishing civilization, buried for 1,700 years, has been brought to life again and where you can see how the citizens of the greatest empire the world has ever known lived and loved, worked and played, ate and drank and died.
After the guided tour of Pompeii you continue your scenic drive along the slopes of mount Vesuvius, Europe's only still-active volcano that is located on the west coast of Naples. At approximately 3,000 feet, begin your trek on foot over narrow paths that zigzag up to the mountain another 1,000 feet.
Once on the rim of the crater walls, you will skirt the edge with an official alpine guide while enjoying the panoramic views that includes Naples and its bay.
You will descend along the narrow paths to the parking lot and proceed back to the port.

From Naples port
tour to Sorrento, Amalfi coast, Positano
This tour will be conducted by small minivans or private cars, giving you the opportunity to reach Positano, and the possibility to see in the same day the most important sights that characterize the Gulf of Naples. Known as one of the most spectacular sceneries anywhere, the Amalfi Drive is a favorite destination for countless visitors. Driving towards Sorrento, you will see the dolomitic cliff towering straight up out of the sea and typical villages, which have characterized its peninsula for many centuries.
The next stop is the fabled town of Sorrento. Legend tells us it was the "sirens" of Sorrento who attempted to lure Ulysses onto the rocks. This delightful town has a wonderful climate and marvelous views of Naples Bay. Take a stroll around the main square and explore the side streets. There are many souvenir shops and local specialties including articles of highly polished wood inlaid with beautiful marquetry. You'll see first-hand why its delightful climate make the village a favorite Mediterranean resort.
You will proceed along the Amalfi Coast to Positano, where a picture postcard comes to life - a patchwork of flat and domed roofs and vine-covered stairways tumbling down to meet the gentle curve of beach, which is dotted with brightly colored fishing boats. Enjoy time at leisure to explore this elegant spot with its designer boutiques, shops, and seaside cafés.

From Palermo port t
our to Palerno city & Monreale
The tour begins at the place and time agreed with the customer. Palermo is the capital and largest city of Sicily, in fact, is the administrative center and main tourist attraction of the island. Our tour today will focus on the most important part of the capital, that is, in its medieval area, where you can visit the splendid baroque and Arab-Norman sites in the city. A must is also the Cathedral: a magnificent and imposing building which stands on the ruins of the ancient cathedral, a mosque by the Arabs and consecrated to Christian worship by the Norman kings. Then, along a beautiful road that climbs the slopes of the Conca d'Oro, one reaches the village of Monreale. The Baroque Cathedral of Monreale, built during the Norman rule, will leave you speechless. We then let down again to Palermo, for a short walk along the colorful streets of the market "Vucciria", the largest of Palermo. If there is time, we move a few kilometers, up to Bagheria, to visit the incredible Villa of the Mysteries. Our tour ends here, customers will then be accompanied to the place and time they prefer.

From Genova port tour to Cinque Terre
Your luxurious vehicle and driver will be waiting directly for you at your ship in Genoa Port to take you to tour one of Italy’s most beautiful places - the Cinque Terre. What is the Cinque Terre? Five miles of spectacular rocky coast, two promontories, thousands of kilometers of dry walls built on terraces cultivated with vineyards, five medieval fishing villages built on rock…add to this the incredible color of the sea and the sky, and you may understand what the Cinque Terre is. You are in for a real treat today. This is one of our favorite shore excursions with unforgettable views of hills, sea and vineyards.

Monterosso, Vernazza, Corniglia, Manarola, and Riomaggiore are their names. Each village is unique in its own way; all are part of a national park system protected by UNESCO since 1997. Inaccessible until fairly recently, in spite of tourism, the Cinque Terre have kept the charm that make them so special and you will experience this during your tour today.

You will begin your shore excursion with a drive south until you reach the last of the five towns - “Riomaggiore”. You will walk through this town in order to reach the breathtaking “Via dell’Amore” (Street of Love), this famous and very romantic walkway carved out of the cliffs (entrance fee). You will then arrive in the second town, Manarola in about 15 minutes where you can take the train or boat to Vernazza. It is also possible to hike along the mountain path to reach Vernazza.

Vernazza is a beautiful town, considered to be the most picturesque of the Cinque Terre and it is here that you will want stop during your shore excursion to have your lunch in one of the typical restaurants that are plentiful in this town. This should be a very flexible itinerary since everyone will have their own interests and may not want to see and do the same things. An excellent way to see the Cinque Terre during this shore excursion, is to buy the “Cinque Terre” pass for the trains. This pass will allow you unlimited transportation between the towns and also includes entrance to the “Via dell’Amore” and the bus service to Corniglia which is the town on the hill high above the coast.

Meet your car and driver at the end of the day in a convenient location of your choice for your comfortable ride back to the Port of Genoa.

Construction of the Colosseum was started under the emperor Vespasian and was completed by his son Titus in 80 A.D. Originally named the amphitheatre of Flavio, it became known as the colosseum because of an enormous bronze statue of Nero which in the second century A.D. was placed near by the monument. The building was used for gladiator fights, hunting simulations involving ferocious and exotic animals and similar entertainments. The building was constructed with blocks of stone and brickwork. The outside is composed of four levels, the first three of which are made up of 80 arches while the fourth is divided into sections interspersed with windows. On this level were placed both stone and wooden supports which held an enormous canopy which served as a roof to protect the spectators from the elements. The brickwork on the inner building was finished with a marble veneer.
The arena itself was a huge wooden floor covered with sand while the subterranean passages consisted of a series of tunnels where the wild beasts and various equipment used during spectacles were held. Holding up to 73.000 spectators, entrance to the Colosseum was regulated through a ticket system, with each ticket indicating where the holder should go through the internal passages and corridors to find his or her seat

Moses statua (Michelangelo)

Piazza di San Pietro in Vincoli, 4/A
April-September: 8.00 am - 12.30 pm and 3.00 pm - 7.00 pm;
October-March: 8.00 am - 12.30 pm and 3.00 pm - 6.00 pm.

The Moses (c. 1513–1515) is a sculpture by the Italian High Renaissance artist Michelangelo Buonarroti, housed in the church of San Pietro in Vincoli in Rome. Commissioned in 1505 by Pope Julius II for his tomb, it depicts the Biblical figure Moses with horns on his head, based on a description in the Vulgate, the Latin translation of the Bible used at that time.
The statue of Moses would have been placed on a tier about 3.74 meters high, opposite a figure of St. Paul.
In the final design, the statue of Moses sits in the center of the bottom tier.

The Knights of Malta keyhole

Peek through this keyhole on a piazza designed by Piranesi in 1765, and you will see a garden path that ends with bushes perfectly framing the dome of St. Peter's in the distance.

What you are peering though are the gardens of the Villa del Priorato di Malta, one of the Rome properties of the famous Knights of Malta (I Cavalieri di Malta)—who are technically and more correctly called the Knights of St. John Hospitaler.

This is one of the last surviving orders of knights left over from the Crusades. But before you say, "Cool!" and rush off to join, I should warn you they wear rather unbecoming powder-blue uniforms, and they take a vow of chastity.

Not far from the complex of Sant'Anselmo, high on the Aventine Hill, via di Santa Sabina opens onto the quiet Piazza dei Cavalieri di Malta. Bordered by a high wall, decorated with neoclassical obelisks and military trophies, it leads to a famous and fascinating broad wooden door. Known affectionately by Romans as the "hole of Rome" its abiding attraction draws queues of visitors to this peaceable "out of the way" spot. No key is required: it is sufficient to put an open eye to the keyhole, and focus. With kaleidoscope charm, a vision of St Peter's dome (affectionately known to Romans as the "Cuppolone") perfectly in perspective, framed by the tops of trees in the foreground, opens up.
Often wrapped in a thin mysterious mist, seems to stand at the end of the garden path, just beyond the door.

Mouth of Truth - Rome

La Bocca della Veritā (English: the Mouth of Truth) is an image, carved from Pavonazzo marble, of a man-like face, located in the porticoSanta Maria in Cosmedin in Rome, Italy. The sculpture is thought to be part of a first-century ancient Roman fountain, or perhaps a manhole cover, portraying one of several possible pagan gods, probably Oceanus. Most Romans believe that the 'Bocca' represents the ancient god of the river Tiber. The most famous characteristic of the Mouth, however, is its role as a lie detector. Starting from the Middle Ages, it was believed that if one told a lie with one's hand in the mouth of the sculpture, it would be bitten off. The piece was placed in the portico of the Santa Maria in Cosmedin in the 17th century. This church is also home to the supposed relics of Saint Valentine.

Pantheon Temple

The building is circular with a portico of large granite Corinthian columns (eight in the first rank and two groups of four behind) under a pediment. A rectangular vestibule links the porch to the rotunda, which is under a coffered concrete dome, with a central opening (oculus) to the sky. Almost two thousand years after it was built, the Pantheon's dome is still the world's largest unreinforced concrete dome. The height to the oculus and the diameter of the interior circle are the same, 43.3 metres.
It is one of the best-preserved of all Ancient Roman buildings. It has been in continuous use throughout its history, and since the 7th century, the Pantheon has been used as a Roman Catholic church dedicated to "St. Mary and the Martyrs" but informally known as "Santa Maria Rotonda. The square in front of the Pantheon is called Piazza della Rotonda.

The Appian way

The Appian Way (Latin and Italian: Via Appia) was one of the earliest and strategically most important Roman roads of the ancient republic. It connected Rome to Brindisi, Apulia, in southeast Italy. Its importance is indicated by its common name, recorded by Statius:
Appia teritur regina longarum viarum
"the Appian way is the queen of the long roads"
The road is named after Appius Claudius Caecus, the Roman censor who began and completed the first section as a military road to the south in 312 BC during the Samnite Wars.

Circus Maximus

The Circus Maximus (Latin for greatest or largest circus, in Italian Circo Massimo) is an ancient Roman chariot racing stadium and mass entertainment venue located in Rome, Italy. Situated in the valley between the Aventine and Palatine hills, it was the first and largest stadium in ancient Rome and its later Empire. It measured 621 m (2,037 ft) in length and 118 m (387 ft) in width, and could accommodate about 150,000 spectators. In its fully developed form, it became the model for circuses throughout the Roman Empire. The site is now a public park.
