with the coffee ritual, which is always espresso coffee - or cappuccino

Ostia was one of the first Roman colonies founded by the ancient Roman King Anco Marzio as a port and centre for trade. In no time at all, Ostia had became a major imperial port Roman and provided the economic stimulus needed to finance the empire. During the period the city experienced great investement and interest even if it would shortly be abandoned at the turn od the middle ages. It wasn't until the XIX century that interest in Ostia resurfaced and excavations began. Many ancient dwellings, walls theatres and old roman buildings were uncovered. Though the excavation project in ancient Ostia began along the coast, they soon reached almoust 3 km inland. Within the excavated area there are a number of buildings and locations now visible such as the ancient walls of the city, the Temple of Ercole, the Mitreo, the Domus di Amore e Psiche, the Domus di Giove e Ganimede, the Casa delle Muse, the Terme of the Forum, the Roman Forum, the Terme di Nettuno and many other examples of social life of the time. The most interesting and representative pieces excavated in ostia is doubt the beatiful Roman Theatre which was built during the reign of Augustus. The theatre was restored in 1927 and is used today for outdoor concerts and life perfomances. In Ostia, there is also a museum that collects varius artifacts from the Imperial era such as sarcuphaguses and sculptures. While visiting the ruins in Ostia, you can follow several different paths through the archeological area.
